Making working paper models from engines is a thing, apparently... It is amazing, but it actually works! Of course you cannot actually put any strain on it, but to demonstrate the mechanics this is great!

Dominoes - seriously?!?
Yup, I just thought this was a very cool project - a tripple spiral in dominoes!

Just an ordinary street...
Not quite :-)
I love this. Special effects used on a totally ordinary image making it totally bonkers!

:-)
Even with twice the amount of infinity you’d get, I’d only do half as good a job as anyone else.

Best book ever for a nerd :-)
You sort of have to love this when you are a nerd: a puzzle book that you will have to construct yourself after delivery:
Beautifully made from wood (!), it will let you flip to the next page only after you solved the puzzle on the previous page. Fantastic... :-)

340K frames a second...
Watch full screen and be amazed... this is really, really fast. And still you can hardly see the glass breaking. Great video!

Mad nerd makes orchestra from floppydrives....
My god, I remember those noices... :-)
That one reminded me of this:
It actually took that long to load.. oh man, that brings back memories... :-)

For those who do not understand/know: this speaker can only beep - it cannot make the sounds it does. Obviously this a hack: the speaker is switched on and off so fast, it generates the waveform. In those days, it was bloody amazing :-)
Personal favorites Talent Shows
Male Singer... not what you expect :-)
The word "sultry" was especially invented for this woman's voice...
I cannot believe this voice is comming from that body:

You expect it - but it is still a slightly magic moment...

Being bitten by a mosquito
This is fun in a scary kind of way. I like how to you see that the "tongue" actually pushes the cells to the side, almost like they are pellets of solid matter...

Best code ever :-)
if (browser === "the-one-they-make-you-use-at-work") { getTheOldLameExperience(); } else { showOffAwesomeNewFeature(); }
Damned if it is not the truth... :-)

Not so much :-)
But it does look cool!

Marble Paper...?
I did not file this one under "art", because I do not feel this is artistic. But these are craftsmen! (Huh, crafts-persons...?) I love the flowing of the colors to produce these patterns... wow. The way the ink is prevented from mixing by the algae is almost magical... :-)

Printable Magnets
This is one of those inventions where it is not immediately obvious what you could do with it - but I'm guessing people are going to do stuff with it :-)
The first part is a bit boring, but @2:00 things start to get interesting...

Theo Janssen keeps inspiring people
Theo Jansen is a dutch artist who is most famous for his "strandbeesten":
Especially the legs have inspired many people to create all kinds of projects, but this takes it to a new level:
Blacker than even my coffee
Making something black seems simple. But getting something really black is much more complicated. Some shine, some reflection... but these guys seem to have nailed it. More video's can be found here.
Brainwave...

You need some dedication, a nice camera, presumably a pair of swimming pants and a lot of time. But then you could arrive at this...

3D printing a book
I like this idea. This would be a possibility to make picture-books for blind people, for example. You could not fit too many of those in a normal bookcase, though :-)
